A magazine with articles of interest to shell collectors containing descriptions of new species and other articles of general interest to collectors. While most of the publications on mollusks that are produced by museums and other scientific research institutions privately and club sponsored publications like this one have become the leading source of information and new developments in the shell world. "Visaya" has a leading position among these publications and has now produced 24 issues and several supplements. It is a magazine that has remarkable color photographic illustrations for their articles and it is produced on quality paper so that it will last. For the most part the articles that appear in this publication (and almost all of the others) are not peer reviewed so that they are an unfiltered source of information and much like information that you get on the internet they have a need to be carefully evaluated by the reader. This publication has never been very popular in the USA but it is well received in Europe and in the rest of the world as well. Perhaps it seems "expensive" for a "magazine" but try more to think of them as reference works instead of as magazines and you will see that they are well worth their price.
